An antenatal workshop is a course designed to prepare expectant parents for childbirth and parenthood. The course is usually conducted by healthcare professionals, such as midwives, nurses, obstetricians, or doulas, who are trained to provide education and support to pregnant women and their partners. The content of an antenatal workshop may vary depending on the provider, but it typically includes the following topics:

  1. Prenatal care and nutrition: This includes information on how to maintain a healthy pregnancy through proper nutrition, exercise, and prenatal care.
  2. Labour and childbirth: This covers the different stages of labour, pain relief options, and strategies for coping with pain.
  3. Breastfeeding and newborn care: This provides guidance on how to breastfeed, how to care for a newborn, and what to expect in the first few weeks after birth.
  4. Postpartum care and emotional health: This includes information on postpartum recovery, managing postpartum emotions, and building a support system.
  5. Partner support and involvement: This emphasizes the importance of partner involvement in pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting.

The course may be delivered in a variety of formats, such as group classes, individual sessions, or online courses. It is usually recommended that expectant parents attend an antenatal workshop in their second or third trimester of pregnancy, to allow enough time for them to absorb the information and prepare for their upcoming birth and parenthood experience.
